After World War II, the once famous café fell into disrepair and is handled as a sporting goods shop. Although the café reopened in 1954, under the name of Hungária, it wasn’t until 2006 that the New York Café was replaced to its standard glory.

Formerly the HQ of an insurance company, it is now a magnificent luxury hotel known as the New York Palace Hotel. It is one of the most impressive buildings on the Grand Boulevard. The New York café can be approached on the first stage, entered Hungarian cultural history through the literary and artistic table companies and café editorial offices based here in the 1900s.
For a long time ago, Pallas Newspaper and Book Publishing House was the headquarters of the building. The state-owned facility was acquired by the Boscolo Group in Italy in February 2001, coming to a completely long and unsuccessful sales process following the change of regime in 1990, which introduced its almost 107-room luxury hotel on 5 May 2006, after the complete reopening of the property including the former glorious New York Café.
The café, together with a restaurant and the Nyugat -bar is now part of the hotel. The carte reminds the intercontinental cooking of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Vintage foods like Beef Goulash, Fishermen Soup, Chicken Leg Paprikash-style, Wiener Schnitzel, and Grilled Foie Gras are provided along with legendary sweets serving as Dobos, Sacher and Eszterházy cake.
The building outdoors inclusive of the Art Deco cafe, indoors are charming and it’s absolutely use visiting. But it’s not a place that locals will order for their coffee, you only identify travelers… This place is high-priced: 2 coffees, 2 cakes and a bottle of water are almost 45€! Not to mention that the standard buffet breakfast is served from 8 a.m to 11 a.m in New York Cafe at €29 per person. Additionally, you can also choose from any a la carte breakfast like french toast, pancake, Hungarian or Vienna sausage to open your daytime. At the same time, New York Cafe also supplied a full meal with starter, soup, pasta, main course and up to dessert. Classic Hungarian dishes like goulash, Paprikash-style main course, grilled foie gras can be ordered as your lunch and dinner here.
For coffee and sweet admirer, there is a large collection of refreshments and sweet courses accompanying other solutions to prefer from. A cup of coffee comes about €6 – €9 and cakes, ice creams are about €9. You can order the afternoon tea for two people at €60. As a matter of choice, you can buy the chocolate, cheesecake and apple pie in a set which recommends with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate in €19. As you see that every luxury services have a price but if you have enough money to enjoy the high-level people area it is definitely worth it!
If you are going through a fashionable business hub in the well-known section of Budapest, the particular scene that stayed in New York Palace is a fine option! Nevertheless, if you wish a limited or a large meet with only a few or hundreds of members, the choice of the place should always be one of the primary things on your schedule.
