Top 7 Shopping Malls in Budapest

WestEnd Mall

WestEnd Mall is not only the most central of Budapest’s malls, but it’s also one of the biggest with more than 400 shops. It’s easy to get lost trying to get around, and you can easily spend a whole day exploring this mall. If you take the main entrance right next to the Nyugati train station, you’ll be greeted with a huge waterfall at the entrance, and if you go to the back of the mall towards Lehel square, you’ll find an abundance of restaurants in the expansive food court.

If you’re looking for something specific, WestEnd Mall will have what you’re looking for, as you can find all the main international mall brands, as well as local brands and boutiques. 

Corvin Plaza

Corvin Plaza is a mall in Budapest that sits just off the Grand Boulevard behind the Corvin Cinema. It’s a spacious modern mall with a number of local and international shops located here. You can also find a few cafes and restaurants here. Its convenient location next to the 4 and 6 trams and metro 3 makes it a popular shopping destination for visitors to Budapest. 

Mammut I & II

This shopping mall in Buda, close to Széll Kálmán square, spreads across two connected buildings with some 300 shops, a multiplex cinema, a bowling alley and more. You can find a selection of international and local shops within the complex, so you can be sure you’ll find what you’re looking for here. It’s easy to get to Mammut, just take the 4 or 6 tram to Széna tér or the metro 2 to Széll Kálmán tér.  

Allee

This open, airy mall may not be as big as some of the others shopping malls in Budapest, but it’s one of the most popular. At Allee, you can find some of the most beloved international and Hungarian brands, a cinema—which also screens films in English—many cafes and restaurants, and there is also a large gym on the rooftop. Locals love this mall for its design and light, making it one of the more pleasant malls in Budapest. Located next to Újbuda Központ, you’ll have many public transport options to get here, including the 4 and 6 trams, and metro 4. 

Arena Plaza

Arena Mall is another popular mall in Budapest. You’ll find this mall on the site of a former racetrack in District VIII close to Keleti Railway Station. It’s not only known for its numerous shops—there are more than 400—but also for its vast entertainment center. You won’t just find a multiplex here, but there is an IMAX and ScreenX here. 

Duna Plaza 

Duna Plaza was Hungary’s first shopping center and currently offers you a selection of nearly 200 stores to shop from. You can get to Duna Plaza in the XIII District on metro 3, but if you are renting a car in Budapest, then you can also take advantage of the 1,600 parking spaces available. In addition to the shops, you’ll also find a 7-room multiplex cinema and numerous restaurants. 

Campona 

Campona is quite out of town, but you can either take a bus from Móricz Zsigmond körtér, or hop on several trains at Déli Railwaystation or Kelenföld Railway Station to get here. There are 160 shops here, as well as a multiplex cinema, but what really makes Campona different is its aquarium, which is a site worth visiting on its own. So, if you want to make a shopping trip and keep the kids entertained, you may want to add Campona and its Tropicarium to your shopping list.
