Pontoon – Unforgettable outdoor club by the Chain Bridge

The shore of the Danube and Pontoon
The shore of the Danube and Pontoon

Pontoon is without a question the hottest outdoor club of Budapest during summertime. Situated right at the foot of Chain Bridge, it offers you a breathtaking view of Buda and the Danube. Live music gigs, afternoon sashes, and electronic parties are all regular events. The only thing that seemingly weakens the awesomeness of this otherwise impeccable venue is its modest size: the covered dance floor area is 100 square meters at most, and although it’s got a terrace and a lot of tables scattered between the bars and the river, it can’t accommodate a lot of people. But, here comes the magic of Pontoon: an approximately 150-meter long shoreline surrounding the club. So, there aren’t any free tables or spots by the bar, just head out to the edge of the bank, dangle your feet over the water, and sip on your drink while admiring the beautifully lit Chain Bridge. Compared to this, squeezing around a table in a crowded bar doesn’t sound so tempting anymore, does it? We don’t blame you – it’s truly an amazing experience.

Prices: you can get a beer for around 900 HUF, but if you want anything else, you’ll need to reach deep into your pocket. But, if you promise not to tell on us, we’ll let you in on a little secret: you can just buy a bottle of wine in a shop nearby and find a spot on the river bank for free.

How to get here: Get off Tram 2 or the 105 bus at Széchenyi István tér.

Morrison’s 2 – The must-go club of every traveler

The inside the Morrison’s2 club
The inside the Morrison’s2 club

Cheap alcohol, diverse music, karaoke, numerous dancefloors, and an in-house hostel – this is Morrison’s 2, one of the most well-known clubs in Budapest among travelers and locals (especially students) alike. While Morrisons might also be a convenient choice if you’re backpacking around Europe and looking to stay in a fairly priced but unique hostel, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll remember this venue for its comfy beds and opportunities for relaxation. This club is an all-around party heaven where you can let your hair down, dance, scream your lungs out in the karaoke room and make friends in an instant. Just like Peaches and Cream, Morrison’s 2 also has all you can drink nights, but be careful – as you can drink as much you wish for about 3000 HUF (not even 10 EUR), one too many glasses can easily turn your night into one giant blur of events and your next day into a swirling vortex of headache and nausea. They have 10 bars, giant screens, table soccer, beer pong and a heated garden as well, so whatever the month or time of day, it’s the perfect pick.

Caution: There are a couple other Morrison’s clubs in Budapest but number 2 is by far the best and most popular one.

Prices: It’s really cheap. Like 2 euros a beer cheap or all you can drink for 10 euros cheap.

How to get here: Take Tram 4-6 and get off at Jászai Mari tér.
